Welcome to another week of sewing progress in ice cold Maine! Thankfully, it’s always warm in Quiltopia. I did lose a couple of days this week, traveling down to Plymouth, MA, where I still have my eye doctor–LOL– and to see my son– my grandbaby is a girl! (but not until May.) Here’s a goofy picture I took of myself with my eyes dilated.

I thought my eyes were taking a turn for the worse– wonder of wonders– they are the same after two and half years! So I think I should stop worrying about aging right now. The only question left to ponder– do I just go ahead and spend for a fresh new pair of glasses anyway?

To celebrate that night, my sister and I had dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant on the harbor, Maria’s. It was crisply cold and the harbor looked so pretty all lit up. Plymouth is the quintessential New England shore town and I’m glad I can drive down anytime.

Back on the home front, I finished four “Piece and Plenty” blocks. True to their name, they had plenty of pieces. I thought I was done before realizing they needed the frame put on them.

I am patting myself on the back for doing an ace’s job on these– thank you God for good vision!

And a neat back… if you’re having trouble with piecing, a look at the back of your work may be revealing– the back is the “bones” of your quilt block!

Moonbeams now has 12 of 16 blocks finished. I’m still waiting on the second green fabric I bought which I need for both the remaining tree blocks and the dragons. USPS says “delivered,” but I have checked all the usual spots and unless the chickens grabbed it to make extra blankets, USPS is wrong. So, of course today, there is no mail. How dare they? But it’s not like I don’t have anything else to work on, right?

I stayed the course and finished my “cross stitch” snowflake block. Please admire how the crosses are all now going from lower left to upper right and don’t focus on anything else. What an effort.

Other than the fact that it’s an overworked mess, I’m pretty pleased! Gonna soldier on. The goal was to have the first row of this crazy thing done by the end of January and I’m on track.

I restitched the February design so next up is the heart block, then the shamrock block. By that time, I’m hoping I can pick up the pace a bit– maybe a finished top by the end of March? Well, that might be a stretch. I do like what I’m seeing, so I’m glad I stopped hating it last week– hee, hee!

Temperatures this week are in the teens and into the minuses overnight. Gonna be along winter and I’m going to stitch my way through every minute! I had a chance to go to Florida in February, but I declined. That’s how bullish I am feeling about sewing this winter.

Let’s see what we can get done!

How lovely to enjoy a meal with your sister in such a lovely location! I am going to see about getting some eyeglasses as well. I’ve got macular degeneration in one eye and want to sharpen things up in the other. Piece and Plenty are superb! Love the selfie!
