Sugar Meadow is now open for company! Not much sewing last week, but I got the entire house sparkling and ready for visitors this year. Our first set of company was my SIL’s parents– we love them– they flew up from South Carolina and we were able to provide them with the true New England experience.

Yup, two new snow storms in as many days. They enjoyed it– but now they’re gone and they took the “enjoyment” part of it with them! So out like a lion March goes. I am so ready for some warmer weather.
Sugaring season is in full swing– it started late, and first we thought it was going to be an “off” year, but now, it is all coming at once! Evan is having to look into buying some big 275 gallon tanks to store all the sap that’s flowing!

Here’s the DD hamming it up behind the evaporator– looks like Halloween to me!

Here’s the product so far– next time, I am going to give you the link to buy it, so you can help me empty up the shelves for more fabric storage!

I finished my little bathroom renovation just in the nick of time for the visitors! This house is set into a south facing hill for solar gain– I love my electric bill, but the bathrooms that are at the back of the house have no windows and are completely dingy! Since a full blown renovation is not in the cards right now, and a window is impossible, I decided to do a little cost efficient renovation of my own– mostly paint up, and some new furniture.

I picked a bright color for the walls– it was white, but it’s “Jackfruit” now! Then I bought a couple of cute, inexpensive pieces of Wayfair shiplap furniture. They were COST efficient, but not TIME efficient– they were BEASTS to assemble. There’s no linen closet in this house, so I’m just going to have to figure out how to fold towels to fit in these pieces. This space in particular had these awful 1970 shelves– the type with the metal brackets– and all my bathroom “things” were on full display. Yuck. I love it now.

I even hung up one of my art quilts! My daughter said it looks like the bathroom of a Mexican restaurant– so it’s been dubbed the CAN-tina! 🙂 Maybe you noticed the bee hive in the picture above– I’m picking out a couple of bee cross stitches to make and hang up in the empty spaces.

I got back to my 2005-2015-2025 scrapbooking– I’m two months behind! Here I am, still working on January pages.

It hasn’t been that much fun to scrapbook snowy scenes right now. I’m still hoping I can pull these three scrapbooks out of hat by the end of the year– I check my March photo folders for 2005 and 2015 and I don’t have that many, so there’s hope the process will speed up.

This set of pages was from storm Juno that hit New England in 2015. It was a doozy! The tip of that arrow that says 2ft+ above was pointing directly at our old house. Maybe I should stop complaining as much!

I still have to jot a few thoughts down– trouble is, I don’t remember as much. So I’m going to show the pages to my family and ask what they remember about it. I’m also trying to organize my photos on my computer– I have been pretty good about it over the years. After 2016, I finally got my iPhone and everything is in order on the iCloud– BUT– I’ve had thoughts lately about the permanence of that system, one hacker, and that could be the end of the last 8 years of my life! So I started downloading to my computer, and then I’ll probably back up on USB sticks. My photos are so dear to me and I would hate to lose them.
Look at this cute picture of our dear old friend, Fellow, from 2015! He wanted to go outside after Juno! Anyway, it’s fun to live in the past a bit. I really enjoy scrapbooking.

I’m just about done with binding this quilt– just a few stitches in the corner and it’s one for the books. That’s all the sewing last week!

I’m definitely suffering with “spring fever”– after hanging around and relaxing with family all weekend, I’m not really motivated for the week.
Since I have plenty of time to quilt Moonbeams for the wedding at the end of July, I decided to bump my leaf quilt up next– and then I went ahead and already entered it in the Maine Quilt Show! That will hopefully get it moving. I realized you don’t even have to submit a photo to enter– I guess they just see what they get and go from there. I entered the “Judged Division” and based on my current quilting skills, I may not even qualify, but then I guess you are added to the display division. I’m perfectly happy with that.

I’m really doing it to just light a fire under myself, and get back into shows until the beautiful “Year on Sugar Meadow” is ready for next year!

Wishing you all a wonderful, sewing week– I better get myself moving and come up with a plan, or nothing is going to happen at all– wake up, it’s April!
