Here I am, still waiting on Spring. Waiting. And Waiting. Here’s the week ahead:

Nice, huh?
So, I’m not actually sure what I got done last week– I always go through my camera roll and there’s not many pictures there. But trust me, I kept very, very busy. I did get a mushroom block done which went more quickly than I thought– so why aren’t they all done?

I have no idea. Two more mushroom blocks to go.
All the backgrounds are cut for my next fourteen Posh blocks– and some of the petals. I may also just squeeze another 7 blocks out as soon as the mushroom quilt is done. Instead of a 6×7 layout, it would give me a 7×7. Like Mondrian, I am obsessed with The Square! Someone online commented, “What is the point of a square quilt?” It’s ART, baby– none of mine are ever gonna end up on beds!

I did test a border idea I had and I like it. I like my art framed. The diamonds would continue out to the border, but not the petals. I think the blue stripe was a bad pick for the sample, but I think it will stop my flowers from pouring off the edges– it just seems like a nice stopping point to me.

I remade the cross-stitch graduation piece for 2026. People ask for this every year which amuses me. It’s not a big seller, but it always gives me the opportunity to make a gift each year for my own little circle of graduates. I’ve always had at least one, year after year. This year, I customized it so you can stitch your graduate’s school colors– this one is for Clemson! I was somewhat skeptical of orange and purple school colors, but it looks fabulous.

I’m finally trimming up A Year on Sugar Meadow blocks. If you wonder why this takes so long, there’s a lot of math involved for four different sizes and I’m terrified of making a mistake! Thanks everyone, for being patient. I love these blocks and we’re going to take the time to give them the finish they deserve. Stick with me!

Finally, I finished the next Sweet Land Applique block. I guess I’m committed to making the whole thing as I bought a bunch of extra blue and white fabric I’ll need for it. I wish I had time to prep another block to take with me to this AQS Hartford quilt show, but I’ll just take my cross-stitch with me.

Here’s the back of the block– I really enjoy looking at the back as the stitching comes along. It’s also the only way I can see where I’ve been!

Lori Holt has picked every single color for every single shape on every single block of this singular quilt, and I am following along like the slavish devotee I am. Except for my secret extra shape– ha-ha!

You heard that right if you were paying attention… the big AQS show is next week, and I can’t wait to get out of here! I love a road trip and it’s five hours south– I’m dreaming of warm Southern hospitality and temperatures. I have already checked the weather and the 60s sounds downright tropical to me. I’m meeting a friend and can’t wait to spend time together– socialization, after months of isolation! I have three classes– one is a collage quilt and two are on the longarm– micro-quilting and then crosshatch design. I’m looking forward to expanding my skill set– maybe there’s more to life than swirls. And best of all– they have an indoor pool! I’ll take you there with me.
So that’s about the dryest post I’ve ever written! Reflects my mood perfectly. Life promises to get a little more interesting soon. Send me a little thought of encouragement below in the comments, if you’re feeling generous.
