June 26–Things show no sign of letting up– we now have a cat with a broken tail. The poor baby doesn’t appear to be in dire straits, but our vet friend is coming to take a look tonight. At least the baby is settling in nicely and everyone is getting a little more sleep to deal with all the issues as they occur.

A great boost to my soul was my sewing day out– I have made lots of friends and two, in particular, have my phone number! It’s hard to get together with the distances here, but we’ve been planning to do certain sit ‘n sew days together.

I continue to start new things– it’s just what my mental health needs right now. The ice cream quilt is still waiting– I keep thinking I’ll be able to finish it in a month’s time. The Scottish in me would love to avoid paying to ship that quilt, haha!

I worked on Whitecaps at the class; I skipped ahead on the assembly line method to just make two blocks. There are a lot of parts to get to that point, but the blocks should go quickly. I feel motivated and hopefully this will get done.

Obviously, I was yapping too much in class. I must watch myself, as usual existence as a hermit causes me to talk too much when I do socialize. While talking too much, I stitched together 80 HSTs which, I then realized as I finished the last one, were supposed to be hourglasses.

I briefly considered just re-cutting and using the HSTs for something else– thank you, Fat Quarter Shop for your generosity with fabric in your kits. But I really don’t need any more new projects suggesting themselves and went on my date with Jack.

I discovered one of the people at the sit n sew also subscribes to Sew Sampler. She was a bit iffy on the Tula Pink fabric; I don’t disagree with her, because it is a bit garish. But once she saw the overall block, she went ahead and ordered the finishing kit– an expensive one, too! So that’s a win for deciding to make this quilt in the first place– it is all summery goodness.

Then, I started the little triangle paper project in the afternoon. This is going to get addictive. The blocks were easy and quick to do.

It’s an old 3 Sisters collection called “Daybreak”– they get the blue ribbon for lush, romantic fabrics. This is how far I got– maybe someone will make a potholder in 50 years when they find this box of parts in a thrift shop!

Someone at class pointed out this may be a great little activity when I am recuperating from shoulder surgery. It’s gonna have to be something, or I will go nuts! It’s still overwhelming to think of losing all that craft and sewing time this year.

This came in the mail– this was on my list for this year as you can verify if you check my first post of the year and I did pre-pay for it! I’m going to do a half-year quilty progress report soon– I looked back, and honestly, I’d give myself pretty good marks at staying on point up until this month!

This wasn’t in the plan–

It came up on my feed on Facebook– my friend succumbed when I showed it to her– what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t then also buy it?

It’s a BOM– I haven’t done one in forever. I never heard of that company– LOVE-SEW– but I did some research and it seemed legit. They do their own fabric collections, and the fabric got pretty good reviews. We shall see.

I made strawberry-rhubarb jam–

It’s just me out there right now, battling weeds in our huge garden. My daughter who had the baby would love to be out there and I know she will rejoin me as soon as she can.

I’m trying to put an hour in a day– I set a timer. You’d think this was torture when I try to psych myself up to go out there, but I’m fine once I start. It probably needs ten hours a day! I’ll give you a full shot of it soon. You will feel pity for me.

Other than that, I’ve been doing a lot of baby holding every day, and making sure the kids have easy meals to eat. I was the one saying, “You better start trying to put the baby in the bassinet,” but so far I am their biggest obstacle to doing just that.

Crossing my fingers that it will be a quiet week! My shoulder MRI is Monday, and I’m actually looking forward to being in Augusta and getting a much needed haircut.
