So this is what comes of forcing myself to work on one thing at a time– my creative soul has gone on strike. It really speaks to the idea that we should accept who we are and if that is starting a million things and only finishing one or two, so be it. Now nothing is getting done!

I can’t even remember what the “ONE” thing I was supposed to be doing was. Whatever it was, it shut my sewjo down and I haven’t even wanted to walk upstairs to Quiltopia!

I think I know the cure– start something new, right? I may get Brio back out again– it was just nice to have a mindless piecing job at the ready, even if it was for just a few minutes a day. I really wanted to do the Lori Holt Vintage Christmas stitch-a-long with Fat Quarter Shop and I guess I should have! It’s four 6″ blocks a week– but I found a great 12″ block setting in the back of the book, so I may just make a block or two this week “for fun.” I don’t have to buy anything to do it, so there’s that, right?

I could make some more 6″ blocks to finish up the Vintage Farm Girl quilt that’s been lying around since 2015, but I’m not feeling tiny pieces right now. And since we’re getting more SNOW today– I think the Christmas blocks are exactly what’s on the menu! (Did you detect the note of bitterness in my voice?)

I did manage to get a last round of “bricks” on my Maine Quilt show entry– that needs to get on the longarm this week. I have a quilting plan, but I’m not sure of the quality of execution yet. I hope I don’t embarrass myself by entering the “Judged” Division.

I’m giving myself a little more practice on the longarm with these extra “Moonbeam” block pillows.

I’m doing pretty feathers in the dove and a “swirl and hook” filler in the background which has turned out to be a favorite of mine.

And I got the April edition of the Tiny Sampler done– that is as easy as digitizing gets, folks, and it’s all I had the strength for last week!

The Appalling Cross Stitch is coming along at an appalling pace– I committed to make one more column of designs and bought an extra light and dark green so the plan is to just keep on. I’m pretty close to a finish on this.

I did get quite a spring cleanup done even though spring is nowhere to be found. Here’s Mr. SFO, marveling in his dusted, well organized space.

That’s all I got for the week! Here I am– I took a picture of myself after my new haircut.

I look:

A little tired.

A little unsure.

A little older.

A little like I need to start some new projects.

🙂

Have a wonderful week.

First of all, your hair looks gorgeous. It is so thick and full of volume. I like the length of it as well. You can wear it up, down, pulled back- my kind of hairstyle!

As to your lack of sewing mojo, I know it will pass. When that happens to me, I do a major tidy up and some how the motivation to spend time in the sewing room returns. Let’s bring out Brio and get that project done! I plan to set my Pomodoro timer to 60 minutes today and spend that hour putting things back in the dresser up in the sewing room. Then I will pull out Brio and see what I can accomplish.

Random thoughts: I love that stone wall in your living room. Sorry you still have such wintery weather. I bet you are so done with it. It is finally nice here and yesterday it got up to 70. Dennis and I sat out on the back porch for several hours reading and it was divine. Except there is a ton of pollen in the air and he spent the evening sneezing and clearing his throat!

You have to choose to change the way you think now that you are attempting ‘Maine-e-ac’ status…It IS SPRING when the sap runs, regardless of what the weather is doing it IS SPRING. You think about daffodils, and crocus, and 50 degree days and realize it won’t be long before the pesky flies show up. Enjoy the bug-less outdoor time while you can…go for a walk and see the Spring peeking thru….the new snow melts the old quicker.

You look “mahvelous”. Love your hair. AND your living room is absolutely gorgeous – looks like a photo spread in an upscale magazine (so comfy and welcoming).

The slump will soon be over, you’ll get inspired and get “sew” much done! I started sorting some of my scraps and just sorting them was giving me inspiration to make, make or finish, finish, etc. Hopefully I won’t get too distracted with all the fun stuff I’m finding. Have a WONDERFUL week!! XOXO Dottie

Well I’d say it’s something seasonal, no matter where you live. Yours is the second blog I have read in as many days to begin with that theme. I’m coming out of a sewjo slump with a new project (!) that was intended to be a scrap buster, and something I could peck away at over time. However I just can’t let it alone so it’s well on its way to becoming another UFO quilt top. Today I’m without power (a scheduled maintenance cut-off courtesy of the power provider) but have a pest control treatment booked for this afternoon. Having to clean the house the old-fashioned way. No wonder we love our vacuums and steam mops (not to mention kettles, computers, internet routers, sewing machines etc)!!! Our weather is being contrary to the season too. Autumn feels a helluva lot like high summer. Wishing you melting snow and a joyful return to stitching.

I agree you look a ”little like you need to start a new project”…but as for the other comments…as this is the first time I’m seeing you (having been sent your way by way of Sister’s Choice)….I think you look pretty!

Good morning! Nicole at Sisters Choice Quilts blog sent me.

We’re in ‘It’s Still-Winter Spring’ here in Wyoming. So, I feel your bitterness at not being able to enjoy a seasonal warm-up for more than a day or two.

As for the loss of sewing mojo…been there; done that. I finally snapped out of it when I took a class to learn collage’ing with fabric. I couldn’t get enough of it & once again I wanted to spend hours at a time in my sewing room. Moral of the story? Try something new to you or at least a new project that you WANT to do!

You look like the rest of us – “winter fatigue!” I agree about cleaning your sewing room – it always gives me a boost.
